PROJECT 52: Week two – BOKEH

I love the way my friend Jennifer defined bokeh: “… is the portrait photographer’s best friend. It’s the pretty little blobs that blur into a soft background that doesn’t distract from your subject, and it can add so much to an image”. I couldn’t find better words than hers to describe what truly defines bokeh.

This week’s theme was really a challenge for me, first because I am a procrastinating person, and second, because we had a whole week of rain in Northern California and everything looked grey and dark.. But because I new I was going to meet these girls in the city, and I love the bokeh effects of all the night lights, I decided to wait for our “date” to do this assignment. I felt a little relief for not having to  bribe my girl for assignment. Luna has been a little tired of me lately, and she is probably glad I didn’t use her this time.

But let me tell a little about these girls….Vanessa was my good friend at college in Brazil from the very beginning. We have known each other for over 10 years, and she followed me all the way to California.  Vanessa and I  met Patricia almost at the same time about 5 years ago. we have been good friends ever since. These two girls are very special, each one on their special way and I feel lucky to have wonderful souls around me! We try to meet at least once a month or so for some dinner, laughter and perhaps some dance 🙂 . Today was their turn to pose for me and the location was perfect, lots of little lights just make a perfect bokeh! Luv you girls 🙂

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to check different interpretation of bokeh  with the awesome Lincoln Children photographer – Natalie Myers
